Turning The Tide © Phil J Clayton
In a meadow sang a soul so free Never knowing of her destiny And what would be The cause of freedom Armed with passion can you save the world With an army and a peasant girl But she would ride God on her side, and prevail
Turning the tide On the occupying force But cross the divide And the law would take its course
See the King regain his regal grace But this heroine is out of place And plans were laid She was betrayed By the men of Burgundy Held accused in spite of victory Purest heart denied her liberty She’d had no right To stand and fight, like a man
Turning the tide On the occupying force But cross the divide And the flames then take their course
Many years ago, the judgement wrong Now the honours flow with rhyme and song Romance and paint Portray a saint Of seventeen
